The holidays are a special time for family and friends to share memories and drink hot cocoa around the fire. But, the holiday season is also an important time to contribute to the societal good and brighten this special time of the year for someone who may not be able to celebrate.

At Tech 4 Kids, giving back is part of our corporate culture. Our values motivate us to push forward and ignite hope. We participate in seasonal events including Project Water, Project Winter Survival, and the Toys R Us Starlight Gala. We also donate toys annually to the Make A Wish foundation and the CTV Toy Mountain charity drive.[1]  Giving back is an act of kindness and positively impacts lives. Whether you donate your time or a commodity, this is why it is important to give back during the holidays:

  1. Make a significant and positive change in someone’s life. The holidays revolve around exchanging gifts, eating turkey and other signature holiday dishes, and spending time with loved ones. Without a doubt, this time of the year is magical and full of love. This type of sentiment should be universally shared. You have the power to better someone’s holiday experience.
  2. Holidays are the perfect opportunity to teach a valuable lesson about humility and gratitude. Gift exchanges can be coupled with a valuable lesson for your children. Teach them that the celebratory season is not just about gift exchanges and delicious food. This is the perfect opportunity to teach them about philanthropy and open their eyes to the world around them. It will teach them to be thankful for what they have and to be kind to those who need help.
  3. A Sense of Accomplishment. Volunteering your time or giving back during the holidays is rewarding because you see the results of your contribution. Knowing that you had a positive impact on someone’s life brings out a sense of accomplishment.

Whether you decide to donate food, gifts or your time, be sure to contribute to the betterment of your community while brightening someone’s holiday season.
